It’s been said a million times, but we’re just going to bring it up again: in 1913, on the eve of the outbreak of World War I, Argentina was one of the 10 wealthiest countries in the world in terms of per-capita income, with Switzerland and the United States as peers and Southern European countries like Italy and Spain in the rearview mirror.
