🇧🇷 Brazilian state-owned oil enterprise Petrobras is teaming up with Norwegian energy multinational Equinor to develop offshore wind energy projects off the coasts of Piauí, Ceará and Rio Grande do Sul. Together, these sites offer the possibility of up to 14.5 GW of energy, as well as a clean step forward for a Brazil trying to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Latinometrics: Petrobras is a heavy hitter. Brazil’s largest energy company, based in Rio de Janeiro, reported revenues of roughly $84B in 2021 and has been responsible for the country’s oil self-sufficiency.
