🇧🇷 Brazil’s energy transition is in full effect. On Wednesday, Spanish energy multinational Iberdrola inaugurated the new Renovable Neoenergía de Paraíba energy complex in the northeastern city of Santa Luzia, the company’s largest in Latin America. The $670M complex is the first hybrid plant in Brazil, combining daytime solar energy from 228K photovoltaic panels with 136 overnight wind turbines to generate electricity practically 24/7.
Latinometrics: President Lula da Silva attended the inauguration, as his administration has placed high focus on restoring Brazil’s environmental credentials. The 8K-hectare hybrid plant is a great example of Brazilian green energy potential, as it supplies 1.3M homes with its 600MW of energy.
