🇦🇷🇨🇱🇵🇾🇺🇾 Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, & Uruguay have officially submitted a joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup. The four countries have called for the tournament, which was first hosted in 1930 in Montevideo, to “return where football was born.”
Latinometrics: If accepted, this would be the second time each that Argentina (1978), Chile (1962), and Uruguay (1930) have hosted the world’s most famous sports event; it would also be Paraguay’s first time hosting.
🇧🇷 Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva paid a visit on Friday to Washington in what is only his second foreign state visit as leader. Lula and his American counterpart, US President Joe Biden, held their first talks together in a meeting that ranged from issues of climate change and food security to defending democracy in the Americas.
